Main Concept of BAFE
The basic idea is to create a network for managing used printed books. This network, could be called SeLiBo (Second Life for Books) or even BAFE (Books Are For Ever).
The printed book, in countries such as Greece, remains a key element for cultivating, entertaining, educating people. However, the new books, remain expensive, are “inaccessible” for many people.
There are many who buy books, which are, for "one-time" use, such as children's books, police novels etc. BAFE will have as its primary objective a mobilization through social networks (digital and non-digital) for the collection of books that are "immovable" and ultimately useless. These books can be sold at a minimum fee (2 or 3 Euros) at various points of sale (fixed bookstore, mobile bookstore, e-shop).
BAFE could also the interchange or even the loan of used printed books.
Main advantages and features:
Managing and exploiting a very special "resource": used printed books, which are not very worn (that is, they can be read again).
Providing a very cheap book to people who do not have this possibility.
This can be done either directly (by retail selling) or indirectly, for example by selling books at a very low price in public libraries, which (at least in Greece) do not have access in new books these last ten, or more, years.
Some books, for example, when there are many copies, can even be made available for free.
